Default RE: Wheel Bolt

I went to local wheel pro this morning.

Found out...the bolt that the dealer sold me (000-990-10-07) was the wrong part.

Compared to the original bolts on the wheel, the new one has threads of different length and the countersink is also different. The original bolt's countersink is "cone type". The new bolt MB sold me has "acorn type" or "ball" -- rounded mushroom style.

MB part guy insisted that MB never made "cone type" wheel bolts though I showed him the old OEM ones on the wheels with "cone type" flaring or countersink. They did not believe me, looked down on me, argued with me, and finally gave me different bolts with part number 126-401-06-70....just to rid of me.

Though the new bolts they gave me awfully look like the generic ones local wheel pro installed for me, I dare not put them on the wheels. I simply do not have faith on this MB dealer. They lost credibility with me already.

So....what is the right bolt anyway? My vehicle is '99 C280, everything OEM, not Sports either.

go to any foreign auto parts dealer with a correct bolt and have them match the length, diameter and thread pitch. if they cannot, i will measure mine tomorrow and let you know. which wheels do you have anyway?

also, you need to see what the bolt was rubbing on and determine if the damage is ok...

Thanks Mikdade.

The wheel pro said, the bolt was rubbing on the Parking Brake. I was careful, did not drive around. I barely made a few revolutions and found out about that noise. There seems to be no permanent damage to anything at all. (I know "seems to be" is not enough.) I already drove 700 miles today. No problem. The E-Brake still catches!! Wheeeew.

Which wheels do I have? Other than OEM alloys, I don't know what to say. Oh...why dont i attach a pic!

MB has DISCONTINUED the part 202-400-00-70, which is the original bolt with extended head.

They have replaced it with 000-990-10-07, which is WRONG because it is longer in length.

Look at the pic and you will understand.
