Default W202 rear headrests

Whenever the left rear head restis folded down into the parcel shelf, it makes a clicking noise as you go over bumps. This is from the head restlightly hittingthe parcel shelf. When the head rest is up, if you tap yourfingeragainst the well in witch the head rest sits in, it makes the same clicking noise. How do I fix this problem?

i would try sliding a thin piece of foam between the shelf cover and the metal car body. you might be able to do this from the trunk. if not, just pull out the back seat (a really fast, easy procedure) and you can access the space easily.

cheers

I leave mine up. I think it looks better that way.

on the E classes from 97 to 2002 the headrests make a noise like that and its the headrest rod hitting the plastic trim around the rod at the shelf. i just dab a little bit of vaseline on the rod where they contact the plastic trim and the noise goes away. or you can try felt tape.
