Turbonator? Has anyone purchased one
I did recognize the name as from that part of the world. an original Indian motorcycle is quite valuable these days, especially the last few years of mfg.
I had a Harley Electroglide back in the 60's before I went into the service. A good one today brings big money. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and boy I wish I had the bike and the Austin Healy 3000 I had along with the bike. Oh well, who would have known.

When I was young, I sold a mint '66 Corvette convertible for $950. That's what it was worth at the time. The buyer talked me down from $1,100. I could ask $30,000 for it today.
Reminds me of a story my dad used to tell me. He had a rookie Mickey Mantle baseball card. His sister stole it and sold it for $5 after he graduated high school and went into the service.
I stole some of my dad's coins from his collection when I was an even younger kid. I walked to a store and bought some penny candy with them. Just some nickels and dimes worth several hundred bucks. He didn't even kill me over it. Weird.
Beauty and value is in the eye of the beholder, especially for cars. This year at BJ auctions muscle cars that cost back in the 50's $4K and vette of the same era, when for 6 and 7 figures, even Javelin's were bringing good money. Amazing. When the Pacer goes for $100K then I poop my pants.
I'm not sure why, but cars at the well-known auctions generally sell for inflated prices. You can get a much better deal banging heads one-on-one with someone selling his "baby" out of his driveway.
A Gran Sport and some other '60s big block Corvettes might bring six figures at an auction. Mine was an "entry-level" model and wouldn't get close to six figures. I've never heard of seven figures, but those rich buggers with holes in their pockets will mindlessly run up bids on nice cars, so it's certainly possible. There are "company bidders" also at the auctions so you need to be careful. There are a lot of idiots that will bid against a person who works for the auction and is merely trying to run up the bids.

Your correct, people with money and want a certain car, will pay whatever it takes to get it. I've read this years BJ's was one of the most profitable and highest bids in decades, comparing value of dollars.
It's truely amazing at what some of these cars go for these days.
Auctions can be a real pain.... I haven't been to one yet that didn't have some "catch" to it.
They add things like ohhh by the way there's a 10% Buyer Premium and things of that nature.
I totally agree with Lugnut... your going to get the best deal "banging heads one-on-one with someone selling his "baby" out of his driveway".
I agree with lugnut also, good old horse trading. I find these big auctions a bit to pretentious for my taste. Interestingly, it seems the people who are buying these BIG buck cars, are quite the run of the mill looking people, average types, but obviously very rich. Which is OK, I guess if I had this much money I wouldn't advetize myself.
My grandfather used to have a one for his Austin Healy 3000.
