Default Has anyone ever hardwired a radar?

Hi All,
I am considering hardwiring my radar detector. I have done this on previous cars. I am curious if anyone has attempted this or has had an problem in doing so on a benz.
TIA, Vern

Hard wiring is not a problem if it is done right. you must be careful in using conventional test lights with the MB wiring due to the many intergraded computer systems. IF you are not a profesional I would not recomend any connection to anything but the fuse panel switch powered fuse # 1 Left driver fuse panel or to the cigar lighter power wire. Good luck. Better to run longer wires then short out computer.

I hard-wired a Valentine 1 in my '96 E320 to elude the stupid no radar law in Virginia. No problem, many places to take power, but fuse box is best if you are going to take power under the hood. If you are going to attach inside of cabin, the built-in telephone has a convenient power take-off; that is what I used.

The fuse panel I recomended is in the passenger compartment on the drivers side dash, when you open the door on the side of the dash is a plastic cover under that is a small fuse panel. you can go to any parts store and pick up what is called a fuse jump terminal or splicer which attaches right to the botton of the fuse, attach ground to the chassis and you are protected so they say.
