tint?

RE: tint?
My C5 has its antenna embedded in the rear glass. My Chevelle has one in the windshield and a sunshade strip at the top. I don't have any radio reception issues with either one. Since the tint doesn't touch the antenna and the antenna is above the tint, it must not be an issue if the tint is installed properly. I've heard of installers cutting or damaging the antenna wire with their razor blades. That would certainly cause reception issues.
Also, I get excellent satellite reception for XM radio and my aftermarket GPS unit. They work fine in any of my cars with tinted wndows. My radar detector works fine also, through the side windows and the rear.

RE: tint?
removing old tint from the rear window can be a real challenge. Side glass is straightforward.
The rear window needs to be delaminated and that takes some skill and time so the defroster grid and antenna (??) aren't damaged.

RE: tint?
I know I'm a little late on this discussion but I just joined. I was inquiring about tint for my 03 C230 K and I was talking to a guy who has been doing tint for over 20 years and he informed me that from 1998 and up MB did not add felt to the rubber strip against the inside of the window. He would need to remove the door panel and add a felt strip the factory rubber strip before tinting. Just fyi. Good Luck!
