Angry Sunroof water leak

Anyone ever had this problem? I have a 2009 C300 that I was told had about an inch or two of water underneath the drivers front flooring which apparently has caused extensive damage to the harness and electrical circuits. Due to repair cost exceeding the cars value, my insurance company is deeming the car unsalvageable! Asked MB if the car was drivable or if it can be dried out. Answer was YES, but not safe to do. (I drove into the dealer but never had any concerns until 4-5 days when the car kept getting strange error codes, such as SRS Traction, airbag and check engine lights, etc.) Had the car totally serviced two weeks before these things began to happen) I am so disappointed and confused with how as much water as they have stated can get inside the car to cause that much damage. Any advice for this 75 year old non mechanic?
