definately agree with Will, 13,000 is way too much to wait to change oil

 

Boy the information that gets tossed around is amazing.
the fss system on the new mercedes engines and the use of the proper mb spec oil is not marketing it is engineering.Go by the manual and the service levels indicated.Changing your synthetic oil every 5-7k miles is a waste of oil and money.
and if red line breaks down at 10 k That is the reason it is not a Mercedes approved nor Mercedes spec oil.
Mobil1 in the proper grade and spec numbers will not break down during the intervals set for your new car.The 1998 m112 and m113 engine before the specs changed to the fleece filter and syn oil is the only engine to have had a problem with sludging.where the misinformed member above is coming up with his info is beyond me and I have built mercedes engines for racing use for years.

I just KNEW this would open a can of worms. I wish I had a dollar for every time this has been hashed out
on every automotive website on the internet. I could BUY a new C63.

Bottom line: Change it when you want to and feel good about your decision.

I'd love to give my opinion further on this one, but I won't.
Sometimes discretion is the best approach.

 

Wow, all these informations are so amazing, thanks so much. I just changed the oil at 3700 miles and I will wait till 13000 miles for the next one. Since this is my first mercedes, I really want to know more about it and keep it in perfect shape.
