Default motor swap?

anyone know what the size of the engine bay in a C230 is? i was wonderin if you could cram a larger motor in the car. possibly a v6?? lookin around in there, seems to be some extra room? anyone know where i could get motor dimensions for AMG motors? or any of the other MB stock motors for that matter? just wondering. maybe its a dead end road. who knows!! anyone?!

230 engine bay is the same as 280 or 43. they are called 202 body.

yes, 230 engine bay can even accomodate c43's v8.

having the space for the engine does not mean you can put it in.

engine mounts are different...
transmission is different...
transmission coupling is different...
ECU is different...
all the engine wiring is different...
exhaust manifold is different...280 and 43 have two lines, one left and one right where 230 has only one exhaust line

kill your dream right now....and save yourself from grey hair. like my father says, if you've got plenty-o-time, go wash the charcoal until it turns white; that's more realistic.

I have no idea about the similarity in size of the engine bays, but I can readily agree with fly_major_fly. Unless you just love the challenge, its not a sensible move. Better off to look for a C43, getting the whole package of upgrades on that vehicle, and sell your C230. IMO.

ok, few questions. IMO?? whats that mean, and IMHO?? whats that, been readin other posts, and ive seen these, cant figure out what that means. and also, i want to build a "sleeper" i want people to look at, what they see is, a C230 Kompressor. a semi weak 4 cyl, not too fast, sure its quick, sorta. but i want to blow some of these folks away. now, i can look at the other vehicles, and see they are quick, or would guess so, just by lookin at em. i went to the Benz dealer here and was a McLaren Mercedes, or it was something to that matter, i was so struck by the beauty and sheer look of "ill eat yer lunch before you blink twice". gorgeous car, but about $455,000. i want to pull up to people and they will think, easy beat, and then when theyre readin my license plate, theyll be scratchin their head. also, at shows, these types of projects are looked highly upon. how many C230s have you seen with an AMG V8 motor in em. i can guarantee not too many. also about dreams, if you kill it, it wont come true, not for you anyways. so im not killing my dream, but it may take a little while to get it there. i may be moving to germany in a couple months, perhaps someone over there can point me towards a shop that can accomplish the work i want done. i still am wondering if there are any sites that give specs on the motors and engine bay, that i would need. dont know if youve seen my 350Z in my other post, but i do know a little about tuning, and i am aware of the intricacies (sp?) of a motor swap. i just need the info to be able to make decisions about what needs to be done to make it work. below is a pic of my two babies together. and the link for the album of the Z below. oh yeah, and i believe mine is a W203 isnt it? being a 2004 ( 2003-2005 )??

Keep the dream alive, if you have the time and patients why not! I'm dead set on supercharging my 2002 C240. Everyone keeps telling me to sell it and get a C320 or C350. I'm happy with my small V6 though and I'll figure out how to supercharge it at some point. The C240 and C320 engines are so close in layout I should be able to use an aftermarket blower for a C320... Anyway, good luck with your project.

Default RE: motor swap?

Dear guys,
I'd like to know if someone can help me. I have an customer here in Brazil (I have a germany car shop here) he wants to install a eaton OEM supercharger from C230 Kompressor 2003 on his C200 2002. So I need to know what I have to buy beyond supercharger unit, inlet/outlet tubes. And if is possible do it. I have no problem with electronics, make brackets and tubes, my main doubt is about intake manifold.
Best regards
