mercedes c320
I recently had my oil changed and transmission done. When I drove the car, black smoking starting shooting out of the tail pipe. Then when I did an oil change, the oil was black, any help would be great. thanks.

OK. First dont drive it any more- until you have read this. Are you running a Petrol (gasoline) or Diesel?
I have a c320 (Petrol), you should only use someting like MOBIL 1 for either Gas or Derv, its the best and what Mercedes suggest for all there engines.
You will need 2 packs, and yes - thats a full 8 Litres - I think thats just over 2 US Gallons.
The filter must be changed and fill to 7.5 Litres run the engine for 10 minutes on idle - level ground and then use the steering wheel controls to check the oil level.
From the mile reading, engine off, but ingition on, click through engine temp, outdoor temp, service miles etc etc until you get to oil level check, the engine should have been off for about 10 minutes prior to checking, and remember - ignition on, engine off.

TRUTHFULLY!! I thing the smoke must have been caused by overfilling and using the wrong spec of oil, if you dont do this you will cause some very severe engine damage.

I'm using gasoline. Sound like the valve is knocking, can't figure out what it is. I only put 6 quarts of oil, i try puting 2 more and see what happen. and let it run. I trying to reset my service B, read to all the forum and still can't get to reset to 10k.

The question DO YOU WANT TO RESET .................. will appear on the screen.
Press the reset button again for a few seconds. The new service interval will appear on the screen.
