Default fuel filter change problem

I've change my fuel filter at 60k on my C240. After installing the new filter, when I start the car, ther are gas coming out the fuel filter on the side pointing inside of the car. (It's leaking at 3 and 4)

Would it be a split/cut on the tube while i cut the OEM hose clamp? My thoughts was if that is the case, can I cut/shorten the tube?

Would it be a bad fuel filter?

Thanks.

Sam>I doubt it's a bad fuel filter. I've never seen one with a split or a crack in it brand new. You may have cut the hose when you took off the original clamps. Or if you really cranked down the new clamps, that can hurt the hose as well.
