My 1998 C280 auto has started to change gear with a significant thump.Have been advised to have an oil and filter change.Will this fix it?

not always oil and filter would cure the problem.most ofthe time its theactuator stick actuator which damages theCLUTCH K1,WHEN CLUTCH K1 IS DAMAGED IT STARTS TO LOSE OIL PRESSURE AND THE SIMTERMS YOU LL GET IS A THUMB WHEN OPREATING THE GEAR LEVER.by all means check the gear box oil colour by draining it,remove samp pan on the gear box,remove oil filter check for metal filings in the samp.letme hw u get on ................

Thanks for info.Car booked in for oil change 15/8/07.Will advise garage re. actuator.It's an automatic gearbox,does this still apply?

this actuator will only be found in the auto eletronic boxes,if has a scanner its best if reads the code,and remeber the OILcan only be purchased from MB ITS 6LTS YOU LL REQUIRE.
