I was sitting the car for awhile with the key in the ignition and when I started the car, foot on the brake pedal and put the gear in drive, the car lurched forward. After this, the car would not switch out of 1st gear.

I called MB roadside assistance and was directed on how to reset the factory settings. After doing so, the carseemed fine. It was suggested that the alarm mechanism locked the car in 1st gear. Is this accurate?

Does anyone have any suggestions about what could have caused this problem?
