Recently my kid spilledpepsi around and into the area where gear lever is located and now car will not change gears at all, also it will not engage reverse unless I turn off the car turn the key once (just turn it once not crank it) put it into the park turn it back on then move it into the reverse gear. Dashboardwas displaying"Start Error" message but that went away. Also dashboard display will not show which gear car is in just grayed out.

Any help is appreciated.

 

the correct fix is to replace the whole shifter unit. ive heard you can remove the assembly and clean them but ive never done that myself.
