Default C240 Muffler Replacement Selections?

Hey Guys,

I've got an '02 C240 2.6L and it seems most of the performance exhaust are merely super expensive muffler replacements (axle-back) with not much HP gains anyway. Has anyone simply a cheaper muffler swap with a Magnaflow w/tips style or equivilent muffler? I know the rear valance does not have the cut-outs like the C230 with its dual-tips, so I'm not sure which size/style would be appropriate and not look gawdy. Any input is appreciated!

It looks like Magnaflow 14815 is the one that fits the C240. It needs to be welded in as the other, more expensive muffler replacement systems. This one is only $140 shipped from VastPerformance on eBaymotors (cheapest I found after emailing them) compared to $800-$1000...lol. It sounds as good (my opinion) as them too. Here's a link to a sound clip below to one installed (on a C230, but without the bumper cut-outs like the C240) for you guys interested in doing the same thing to save some money.

So, I've ordered the polished Magnaflow muffler with tips (pic below) from Vast Performance for $140 shipped. I'll submit video of it once I get it installed and report on it for you guys. It just seems to be a much more frugal muffler replacement/axle-back exhaust option than the other "exhaust systems". Stay tuned!
