Default C200K Coupe transmission slipping

Hi All,

I just picked up a 2002 C200K coupe, and while driving it the 1000km home I discovered that the transmission was slipping in 4th and Drive when travelling over 90km/h and applying the throttle. It feels like the transmission does not know what gear to be in and slips back into a lower gear for a second. Sometimes it feels like a shudder, especially when it is going up a hill under cruise control. Could this be something simple like a sensor malfunction or does it sound really serious?

If anyone has had a similar problem, please let me know what the outcome was.

Thanks

David Heacock

Hmm, I saw the same problem in a rental CLK 200 K. I think its a problem that happens in some of Benz transmissons. Unfortunately, I do not know what happened to that car as it was a rental

try checking the oil level first.

if the level is about 2 liters low, better put in a fresh one.

I just talked to a couple of service guys at the local dealer. They suggested that the C class has a common problem with a seal on the transmission, causing it to leak. They sounded confident that the slipping was as a result of low transmission oil levels.
