Buying a 1996 C280 sport
I am looking at buying a c280 sport this afternoon and am wondering about a couple things. What do I need to look out for? The car has 100k miles on it and was driven by an old man its whole life, it has also been covered it's whole life. It's paint is perfict so is the interior. It has AMG wheels and cheesy fake carbon fiber all over. The only bad thing is that yesterday I went and test drove it and the A/C didn't work, we put coolent in the a/c system and it worked. (it was out) I am thinking that this is because it has been sitting so long. What do you think this car is worth? The deal so far is $5150 out the door, is that good?

I'd say you should have posted your questions quite a bit earlier than just a few hours before going to buy the car.
But that price... Since you don't have a location in your profile, I'm not sure what the market is like in your area, but over here that is a price of a few years younger C280. But if you like the car and think it's worth the price, then go for it.
BTW, at least to me, "old man" and "cheesy carbon fiber" do not necessarily add up. Could be true, of course, but still... Or I guess it depends on what "old" is.
Refrigerant doesn't really just go out from sitting long. There is a leak somewhere in the system.
As far as other stuff to be checked, pretty much the same stuff than in any used car. PLUS the engine wiring harness. Search for that and you'll find a lot of issues related to that and it is not necessarily cheap to fix.
Good luck.

Yeah I haven't had the time to make an account and everything to post a topic on here. I do like the car, i'm in high school and just sold my Alfa Romeo Spider to buy this car (haveing a car with power something is nice) I'm figured the a/c has a leak but i'm wondering if these c280's are known to leak out of the compressor? Thats the most expensive part to replace so if so I would just try to get the price down more to pay for it. I'm in Montevallo, Alabama which is about 30 minutes south of Birmingham.

Sold an Alfa? Wow! Congrats! And my condolences to the new owner...
There are quite a few places (seals) the refrigerant can leak out, not just the compressor. You can buy a can of dye and put in the system and then use black light to spot the leaks.
I, personally, wouldn't really pay a dime over 4K for it, but that's just me.

4 days ago I bought '97 C-280 (not Sport) with 129K granny-owner miles on it for $3600. Bose stereo system, MB 6-Cd changer and CLEAN. No accident evidence ANYWHERE. Paid $3600 which I thought was a good deal. Cruise control works, automatic climate control works everything is nice.
$5150 sounds like he's trying to get retail.
