you too must of turned the key on(maby to listen to the radio) while the cluster was out, and it stores a code.
The only way to get rid of the code is to get it cleared by mercedes computer diagnostics, they will also check for other faults when they reset it.
this is the only way sorry

Hi,
The same had happened in my case. Had the instrument cluster out and accidentally the cluster turned the key and thus the ignition on ...
Result was SRS check light on for 2 minutes after engine started.
My local Merc dealer sorted it out, by resetting the ECU - costed 14€ and an hour's time.

If it goes out after a couple minutes, then it is only a stored code, and not a current code. The same thing happened to me after I removed my passenger seat and turned the car on to listen to the radio.
