Default RE: Adding MB Sirius Satellite receiver to 2005 C230

I hate to revive such an old thread but can someone please help me get Sirius on my wifes 2005 c320 coupe. There is some sort of little antenna on top of her car although that could be FM I guess.
What do I need to buy?

Contact your dealer, you need the radio and the antenna. Will cost at least $1,000-$1,200 installed. I have the integrated MB Sirius radio, nothing looks and works better than an OEM integrated solution. It's obviously a bit pricey, but if the dealer tells you it can't be done, look it up in your manual, it doesn't require a SAT button. I am not sure what the headunit looks like in the 2005 coupe, but with the standard Audio 20 headunit in the sedan, the SAT function will be assigned a softkey.

The MB Sirius SAT kits are separate devices. Always. The US spec head units (MOST based, as well as the 2004 US spec CD-rom comands for the 203 C-class / 209 CLK) can INTEGRATE with Sirius. Not the same as having it built in the head unit.

So I am a little lost still, some people say it has to be done by the dealer, some say its a DIY job....
Also I still don't know what part numbers to buy? my wifes car already has some little antenna sticking out, is that the same antenna or will she need two?

so big sis there may be another part or piece thats added into my nav unit? ill have to check it out. i bought my nave unit only piece i plugged into it was an antenna like cord looks exactly like a gps reciever behid the dash and i hit the button sat radio worked i dont even pay for the service so am i just lucky or is it in the price of the unit as i was told?. kinda wanna know now .

def go with an aftermarket unit if ur spending big dollars because u can get gps nav included and dvd capabilities for this original post.if ur dealer is saying 500 bucks or so to just add it in go w the dealer keep it oem it works the same no matter what car radio or handheld unit u buy sat radio is sat radio. if ur spending 1200 or more by the pyle or innovatek 7inch double din or single din flip out units half the price of pioneer less hardware and does the exact same thing for 700 bucks. with sat n bluetooth/

The antenna sticking up is for the phone system (and FM, I believe) and you will need another separate satellite antenna. Mine is a Terk antenna placed above that antenna on the roof just above it. Otherwise, the dealer (who offered me the Terk) will drill a hole in your trunk and install the standard antenna.

Also, I believe it's gotta be done by the dealer to program the HU, ask them, but it's worth the cost. It's not that much labor and it will save you the headache. The satellite receiver is installed in the trunk near the amp.
