98 C240 elegance intermittent starting
I’ve had this 98 C240 elegance for 3 weeks. It tries to fire and eventually does. All electrics are working. This problem came on gradually over a week from about 3 out of ten starts to virtually every time.
When it finally starts and you switch off and start again its fine, but leave for an hour or so its back to grinding away again.
I’ve been back to the garage where I got it from; they did an engine management test and came up with error code P0130 oxygen sensor (02). After seeking advice, they said it might need a new key but if they cannot find out exactly what’s wrong with it they will give me my money back because they will not send it to Mercedes as it cost too much.
I love this car and do not want to let it go, when you get it starts it runs like a dream it’s only problem is that you can not stop anywhere and turn the engine off or it’ll take 5-15 mins to start again. It doesn’t have an ovp so it cannot be that; two suggestions I’ve had are the CPS or a sticky fuel pump relay? Has anyone else fixed this problem or am I chasing a ghost?
