My check engine light recently came on, so I took it in right away to my mech. (not MB dealer). He hooked it up to his computer and said it was the secondary air injection system, and that I would need to take it in to MB b/c he didnt have equip. to fix. So I took it to MB and they say it a crack in the wiring harness and it needs to be replaced. They are trying to get it under warrenty, however if that doesnt go thru, it may cost $2000 to fix. Why does it cost so much to fix a wiring harness??? Any help is greatly appriciated.

yes very very common fault on this EVO engines,the actual fault is the cam advance uints are faulty with a 2 pin connector,engine oil crawls thourth the 2pin connector to engine control module and gives all sorts of fault codes ..... the just coverin as crack its not this is common fault with oil going through the system........NAZ
