Default RE: 1999 C280 - Radio w/No Sound After Service

I took the car to a high end car stereo shop and had them diagnose it. They weren't much more help. They tested the connectivity between all the fiber op cables and it came up clean. They tested the head unit and it came up clean. They're best guess is a blown amp, even though they tested the amp and it has power and current running thru it.

Is there anything that can be done short of A) buying a new amp or B) a new MB radio (which may or may not fix the problem), or C) a new non-MB head unit and replace all the fiber op wires and speakers? Any help is appreciated.

the amplifier's control voltage from radio must have 12v whenever the radio is on. pin no. 8 on amp. pin 9 is minus.

you only got two choices: amplifier or radio problem.

here's the test that can answer your question.

I am leaning towards the AMP being the problem. I've found a reputable place that sells/repairs Bose amps, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that the AMP is what the problem is.

I don't know enough about electronics to use a multimeter for the test picture you posted

Turns out it was a dead BOSE amplifier. Searched Ebay and found a used one to replace it, and the sound has returned.

I have the same problem like you, just finish complete repaint the body, when I get the car home , no the radio does not work, everyhing looks runing find on it, radio, cd and tape. I hope if will like you after few days will get back working, I did input the code after when battery disconnected. If the sound does not come back in few days, Whould it be some kind of main speacker connector inside the doors somewhere in the car body when the body shop disconnectored it.?? anyone know where it located?? 1996 C36 AMG
