1999 C230 Kompressor Help? (Gas Pedal)
so i realized this while the car was in park: after you push the gas pedal down all the way, you can push it even further (with more force) and it will like make a like a click sound. what does that extra push/click do? I've also done it once while driving and it made the car slow down for like half a second and then it it felt as if a turbocharger might have been turned on but that may be coincidence. Although, i have heard that pushing the pedal the extra step engages some sort of turbocharger but i was wondering how true this is?
Your car is a "Kompressor", which means it is supercharged. There is no turbocharger that "turns on". Turbos don't "turn on", basically, they are spinning all the time, you just don't make boost until you bring it in with the gas pedal. Same with your supercharger. It is there spinning, but not making boost until you load the engine with the gas pedal. That's a simplified version, but pretty much true. Another difference is that a turbocharger works off the exhaust to spin the turbo, a supercharger is not connected to the exhaust.
its called a kickdown switch. it will downshift the trans to a lower gear to accelerate the car faster. and also to cut off the Air conditioner compressor when you are wanting full throttle acceleration
