Hey guys I hope someone can help me here. I have a 98 C280 and the radio noise on the AM stations is unbearable. I don't even know where to start on this. I have a voltage stabilizer with a noise filter, and it helps some, but not much. I just bought this car and it's perfect except for this. Also I don't here any noise on FM or CD player.

 

you may have a faulty diode on the alternator.

put the car in oscilloscope and see the charging pattern.

Have I ever listened to AM - nope!
As far as I can remember AM has always sounded dull & lifeless. Is this a fault that has just developed or did it gradually worsen?
