Default Aftermarket Radio 1998 SL500

I have a little issue in the SL500 I recently purchased. I miss my XM radio, and would like BlueTooth and an MP3 plug in. As you all are aware, Bose stereo's are an integrel part of the cars electrical system, and I have heard that if you take the stereo out in favor of an aftermarket unit, you lose the warning tones for the other parts of the car. And because the speakers are all electrically powered, you have to replace them as well.

Has anyone had any luck with aftermarket radios? If so, what brand, and did you also lose some of the cars features?

I have no problem replacing the speakers or the stereo, I would just like to explore my options.[/align]

Kenwood In Dash head units have worked remarkably well for us. Especially the 7100 if you can get ur hands on one. Hands down they are the best pieces you can find. The double din Navigation units blow away Alpine and other top notch brands. For speakers however i would have to say go for Exile Audio Pro series if you have a dealer nearby, we specialize in using Kenwood and Exile at our shop here in Tampa and we specialize in Mercedes and other high end exotics.
The Exile Pro Component speakers blow Bose away in all spectrums. JL Audio is also another amazing way to step up ur speakers.
