wont start when parked on a hill.
i have a v class v230 auto, seems to have a problem starting when it is parked on a hill.
it will not crank, all lights on dash come up, stereo works but nothing happens, does not turn over. can get it to start by pushing it forward or backwards a little then it will start.
seems that if i park it on a level road, it will start ok or if i park on a hill, but put the parking brake on first to hold it then select park on the transmission it will also start. when i park on a hill and select park, but do not use the parking brake it feels stiff when you select park and the car rolls forward till the parking gear stops it.
it will also start ok if parked on a hill when left in neutral.
apart from this drives ok.
i am eager to find out what it could be
help appreciated
thanks
David

RE: wont start when parked on a hill.
Sometimes it ranges from your car being hard to shift to the point where it's locked to the point to the car won't start.
Haven't experience this since my Cadillac days(Always started but was very hard to get in and out of park.) , when someone explained the whole thing to me, a distant past. I will have to go look it up for further details.
