Wearable Rotors?

Wearable Rotors?
We have a 2003 E320 with under 30k. The brake check display recently came on and we took it to get repaired. We were told that the rotors had to be replaced as well because they were wearable as well. In fact, it was said, that Mercedes rotors should be replaced every other brake job. Anyone know if this is true about Mercedes rotors, especially newer ones (2003?)? I've never heard about rotors that wear so quickly...and we do regular brake jobs. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Wearable Rotors?
Never heard such a line of hum bug in my life. All rotors are wearable. My 99 C280 rotors were changed at 50K miles. Which if you stretch what they said about evfery other pad change they could be changed at 50K and 100K miles. The pads wear quicker then the rotors, I was on my third set of pad, and decided to go aftermarket due to the dust. I also had the front rotors changed. But they still have about 10K miles left on them according to the mechanic. Now at 55K I still have the OEM rear rotors, and second set of pads.
You need something fixed as the light did go on. How many miles on your ride?

RE: Wearable Rotors?
Thanks for the info wizard...Our E320 is only at 29k right now, which is why I am a little suspect about this whole thing. We were told that it would be $600 to replace the rear rotors. Any feedback you can give me on the difference between the front and rear rotors and which would be most likely to be in need of replacement first? Do you think, in this case, that replacing the rotors is necessary? I am skeptical.
And...I posted the same post above and got this answer in the "E Class" forum:

"yes, this is true.
I've own my W124 since 1991 and front rotors were always replaced every other brake job. That how the beast like to be fed.
For many trying to use harder brake pad for longer pad life, it is not uncommon fro rotors to need replacing when the pads are worn."
wizard, is this a satisfactory answer? because it seems it pretty contradictory to your response. Again, this is a 2003 E320 with less than 30k.
Thanks again for any feedback/advice.
