Default w 123 240D drive shaft repair

I recently crawled under my '81 240d ( manual trans) and jiggled the drive shaft producing some unpleasant sounds. So I'm wondering if I can rebuild the D/S myself. It looks like you can get all the parts online. But, it seems I've heard that the bearing needs to be pressed in by a shop. I don't have another vehicle to use to transport the D/S to a shop . I saw a how to article that described the whole process but glossed over the bearing pressing part simply saying to press the bearing into place. Any advice would be appreciated. Does any company ship assembled, rebuilt drive shafts?
