Trip meter reading higher than total reading
Hi,
I've just bought a brand new class E 2009. A few minutes after leaving the dealer, I discovered that the total distance meter read 12.4km, while the trip meter had a reading of 14.4km.
Is there anything apart from fraud that would explain how a brand new car would have a trip meter reading that is higher than the total distance reading?
I would greatly appreciate any thoughts.
Regards,
Sarah

Try pushing the reset button, my SL will sometimes read fast on the trip meter and a reset seems to clear its head. Having said that it is one thing to have a glitch in a 15 year old car with 200,000 on the clock and quite another to have a glitch in a new car. My suggestion is to take it back to the dealer and have it checked out.
