I have posted regarding my temp gauge creeping up near the red when sitting in traffic. This started a flurry of responses including some stating that "a Mercedes should run at 87c period"... I just found in my service manual and also in my Owners Manual, "during high traffic periods, the temperature gauge may go near the red. If this occurs, shift into neutral to reduce additional heat from the transmission." This leads me to believe that this is a normal condition for the 560. I'm not going to concern myself with it.

 

The "87C period" was obvious misinformation.
