I have an 2015 E350 and my steering wheel is locked in the full up position, it will telescope in and out but will not go up or down and the motor is getting power to it but it just makes a clicking sound. Mercedes said it needs a new motor for $800 with labor but I think its just a piece broken or wore out that needs to be replaced, but I have been wrong before.

 

Hello and welcome to the forum! Take a look at the link below, it seems that this failure is common with some MB models. You could be correct in thinking that it's something other than the motor.
