Hi
I got a C320 2002, I just bought it, I noticed that each time when I start the car "Even when warm", it does cause roughly 9 knocks that seem to be coming from below the steering wheel. It is like knock-pause 5 secs-knock...etc..then all is normal for the rest of the trip.
Any ideas ?

you have the dreaded broken stepper motor problem.
Mine did the same thing for about a week, then stopped.

 

What octaine gas are you running?

 

sghokie...should I be concerned about this ?
What is the function of the stepper motor ?

C280, I do live in Lebanon we have 95 and 90 I use 90

Hmmm ...after some research it seeems this could go on for a year..but it does not seem that it affect any functionality..apart from brain screwing me each time I start the car ..have I got that right ...

One thing I notice is that when I do have heater on, and of course the Windows closed, i can smell the exhaust of the car in front of me.
Is this related ?
