Default starting in the cold w/o pluggin in?

Just looking for any ideas on starting up a 84 Mercedes 300D in sub-freezing weather - usally good til around 15 or so, but - if there is no access to an electrical outlet to plug in. . .. .on street parking and snow bans - gotta love the north! Any ideas? jump start or battery charger do the trick? are there engine heaters that don't require a plug in?

thanks

Default RE: starting in the cold w/o pluggin in?

I don't know about your Benz but mine started just fine in sub zero weather. I was impressed that the car started as well as it did. Mine does not have a plug in and the oil was 10w30 - not synthetic. It started without a problem when it was -20F even after setting 12 plus hours.
