Hope someone can help. My mother-in-law has left me in charge of her C180. Problems as follows: I suspect the 12v battery is flat, the central locking wont work (can open drivers door with key manually), Ive been told the battery is in the boot (crazy!) but the boot lock wont open manually with the key or electronically with either the fob or switch on central console inside car. I need to move the car into a family members garage soon as the road tax has almost ran out. Any ideas? The key fob battery seems ok as the red led lights up. please help!!!

check the other threads or post on this site about central locking pump for the c230 and c280 . i would try resetting the central locking pump located under the rear seat bottom is a black box with vacc (yellow) hoses going into it . unplug the electrical conn and wait 5-10 sec then reconnect you should hear the pump running (buzzing ) , then try to open the trunk or lock the door with the remote

 

I had a similar problem w my C320 last week.

Here's what you can do. Have a friend boost up your car first. That should give you enough battery power to drive to a garage to replace the battery.

Even if the battery is in the boot, there should be some connectors in the front to allow battery boosting.

As for my car, I boosted mine up, had the battery replaced at a mechanic friend's garage. But now the ECU is not working properly. I'm currently waiting to see if there are any threads that can help me.
