Default Noisy belts.. And boot lock

Hi.
New on here.. But here goes..
I bought a mercedes slk 230 k 2001 model about two months ago. Which i bought from a toyota dealership.. Hence its covered by a 12month toyota warranty. Not ideal. But. Got the car for a good price..
But have noticed when ticking over the belts are noisy? Like a shrrrring sound.. Is this normal to the model?
Is it just a w d 40 job. Or maybe some costly fault? If so i'd best get it looked into while car is under a warranty?
Also.. Notice a few posts on here about the boot lock.. And mine also needs a good thud to close. To the point it can effect the near side rear light.
Notice the raised clip. At the base. Which the boot closes into has got movement in it. About an inch play.. Able to lift it up and down? Is this normal too? Or should i get it tightened.
Boot still closes and locks.. But not ideal.
Have to say tho.. Other than the above.. Car is a pleasure to drive and own..

Get it tightened!
Thats why the boot (trunk) doesn't close properly.

Ref shrring noise. remove serpentine belt (very simple) and see if the noise disappears. At a guess the water pump bearings are past their best. maybe not in danger of going bad but beginning to get noisey but it could be the alternator or the kompressor.

Pour water on belts, noise goes, leave alone. These motors are known to be a bit noisy in that area.
As stated may be WP but normally the bearing on the idler between supercharger and crank pulley. approx $40 part.
This plastic pulley gets a corrugated wear pattern that is also normal and makes a noise.
Give the belts a good inspection with a torch. look for fraying and cracks.

Hi again.
Have checked belt condition and they look fine.. And tried pouring water on belts as suggested. And still noisy..
Not an expert on cars. But would say noise is coming from the bottom left wheel /belt as you look under the bonnet..
The one which is most difficult to get at..
Like a shrrrr ing /rattling round as the belt turns on its wheel..
Have solved boot. And now closes fine.
Any advice re- the belt noise greatly appreciated..

Belts pretty easy to change if your mech minded.
The idley bearings also go in the round metal wheels. Can be swapped out. Bearings cost about $10.
Also some models have a shock abs on the pulley that goes.

Hi,
As I said previously remove the belt and then one by one check the pulleys for wear, damaged bearings etc. Do they turn smoothly and with no roughness etc.

Hi.
Unfortunately.. Informed by someone who is a technician.. That noise is coming from the Kompressor on my slk..
Merc specialist reckons replacement kompressor is £1000. Plus fitting..
Outch !
Obviously. With the car having a toyota warranty. Have booked car in for a in depth check on the problem.
They reckon based on it being a merc they will send it to a local merc main dealer to find out what problem is..
Certainly sounds noisy. And its now becoming noticeable inside the car now too..
Bad start for me.only done 1500 miles in it as yet..
Anyone on here with any advice re- whether it's likely to be the kompressor?
Hoping toyota warranty covers all parts etc..

The Supercharger is very noisy on these, esp when it pushing.
You can check front pulley by removing belt and spinning pulley.
"IF" its the internal bearings the units can be rebuilt.

Cheers for the advice..
Booked it in at toyota /mercedes on thurs.. So will see what mercedes say.
As i posted previously. Car is covered by a 12month toyota warranty. So hopefully any problem will be covered..
Performance is not affected in any way..
So maybe there is no problem..
But obviously when you purchase a car. With a slight noise. Which you believe to be normal for that model of car. And the noise gets louder to point it can be heard upon acceleration and tick over in the car itself. It is a little concerning.
Car has 45k recorded miles. With merc history. So hopefully nothing serious..
Car is a pleasure to drive..
Did previously have a toyota mr2.
But this car is a world away from that in drive . And comfort..Loads more torque.
Hoping long term - The car proves as reliable as the toyota..
I'll let you know the outcome..
Once again thanx for advice.. Will pass it on if needed..
