Default Mercedes troubles four

Wondering if there is any help out there in www land.
Just bought a lovely 1995 S320 at auction, rides better than the Taurus.
BUT
1. those damn rocker switches seem to be prone to failure, the rear wondow blind won't retract ( switch feels funny) .. does anyone know how to replace the rocker switches on the center console...or know how to hot wire the rear blind via acess to wires etc. in the trunk.

2. the rear drivers window creeps down during travel, doesn't come up properly, only way to close it is to pull up by hand, anyone have a .pdf or instructions on how to tear the door apart to fix it, the rocker switches are shot as well.

3. I've read the manual and can't see anywhere what oil viscosity is recommended, anyone have a chart? I have 10w40 because I was planning a trip to Las Vegas in Aug. It gets to -40F here in winter, rarely over +90F in summer.

4. Is it a big deal(pictures, instructions) to put in a thermostat and block heater?

Message for sleepwalker..

Geez...all I can say is a big THANKYOU. Thats a lot of trouble (....and HELP) to go thru to help me out.

When I get these little things fixed this car will be even more of a pleasure.

I should be able to fix the door and the blind now...and put in the right engine oil..

I'm wondering if you have a page for the center console, right now I have 4 bad rocker switches in it, as well as the bad one on the drivers rear window where the window creeps down. To bad they didn't just 'ping' out for replacement.

And , about the 'thermostat', I see yoru from Asia so you wouldn't have this problem. At 50N Latitude on the Canadian praries it gets down to -45F in winter, all vehicles have an electric 'block heater' to keep engine oil liquid so they will start, all engines also have a temerature control valve that is fitted into the cooling water circuit, it's called a thormostat here. Anyway, the thermostat restricts coolant flow so that proper engine operating temperature is reached quickly and it keeps it there otherwise on cold days the engine would operate very cool and there would also be no heat in the passenger compartnment.

thanyou again

your car already got thermostat.

i never heard of block heating, but i know the coolant pre-heater. it's a separate component with timer and remote control. you can set it to drive the car with interior warmed up and engine ready to start.

Sleepwalker, do you still have the pdf of the door schematic? I have something lose inside or so it sounds and am interested to have a look without decomisioning the car for some mistake that I might make.

Thanks Elysium
