Default Kickdown causes rough running (S320 - 2000)

Hi
Recently, I found that if I use the kickdown, the engine loses power, runs rough unless I restart the engine and avoid kickdown. When this happens I olso can hear a clicking on the radio like the noise you used to get when a spark plug was shorting. Any ideas?
Thanks
Hugh

You don't state if you get a Check Engine light.
Next step is to read if there are any codes stored in the On Board Diagnostics. an appropriate scanner is required for this purpose.

If you have a misfire for some reason the engine may go into Limp mode (run rough). This can be cleared by a restart.
If this is the case we need to understand what caused a transient misfire. This is where the codes come in.

What, if any, event can you assign to the start of the problem. Refilled with gas (possibly bad?), car wash etc.

Hi
Thanks for the reply
No Enine Light or other messages appear, after kickdown it just runs in what I guess is Limp Mode until restart.
No scanner available so i guess its a dealer job...
BY the way, any idea where I can get a guide to te fuses in the car?
