Change your oil and while doing it put in a liter of Slick 50 or something else contaning Teflon. It should give you about an 8% boost in MPG.
After 3000 miles change your oil and filter. Put in Mobil 1 and use a premium brand oil filter. This is ususally good for another 10% boost. You can also run Synthetic oil for about 15,000 miles before changing it.
Other synthetic brands would likely work as well. I just started useing Mobil 1 about 30 years ago and have just stuck with it.
Watch for leaks at your seals after this as all synthetic oils leak past the front and rear crank seal worse than conventional oils.
I did this in my VW van and a 240D and got pretty much the same results from both. I had to change the 240D oil every 6,000 miles as diesel fuel breaks down oil, even the synthetics, faster than conventional oil.
If you do try this then post your results on this board. We could all use the information you come up with.
