Hi, I have a 98 E430. The light went out on the high mount rear stop lamp. I replaced the bulb and still doesn't go on. I looked at the fuse boxes and do not see a listing for a fuse linked to this light? Maybe I have a short circuit, but would like to know if any fixes are out there, or if anyone knows the fuse # and location for this lamp. Thanks in advance, Larry

 

Hi Larry... Welcome to the forum.

This would be the fuse for the stop light system. Sometimes it's not the bulb but the contacts. Try cleaning the contacts and see if that helps. Also make sure the tension is strong enough to maintain good contact.

BTW, some people call that light a 'Dole Light' after Dept of Trans Sec Elizabeth Dole who was in office when it was mandated in the 80's.
