2005 c230 Sport
I am getting this rubbing noise when I turn the steering wheel of my C230. The noise is inconsistent and happens sporadically mostly during the start of the day. Does anybody know what is the cause of this rubbing noise. I only have 36k miles on the car, and it sounds like it's coming from the steering assembly. Please advise.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Sounds like it occurs when the car (interior or ambient) is cold.
Is the noise from the column cowl. This is quite common or maybe it being transmitted up the steering column from the steering rack / box.
I suspect the former.
It could be the electrical connection (clock spring) to the airbag.
If so this is a job best left to a trained technician due to airbag safety issues.
If the noise is from the rack / steering box have you check the PAS fluid level?
