fuse grilled when i want to turn on the starter

Default fuse grilled when i want to turn on the starter

Hi everybody,

I have a serious problem on my c 220 cdi 2002 and 150000Kms, the problem is when i want to turn on my engine after the preheating, a fuse grilled this fuse is in the a fuse box on the right of the vehicule when we are in front of the position of the fuse is 52 and the value is15 A. on the electrical sheme this fuse is for the starter.

Hi kaiser78,

Immediately what comes to mind, is either a) the starter is bad; you can bench-test the starter.or b) the cables going to the starter have been pinched, chewed or rubbed through, and are somehow making electrical ground source contact with the engine block, a bracket etc.

Thanks blue silver for your answer also how can i dismount the starter and there is no mounting / dismounting instructions for that.

I don't have the instructions. It generally involves, disconnecting the battery, diconnecting the wires from the starter, removing the mounting bolts of the starter, inspecting the cables for holes burns or abrasions, bolting the starter to workbench and testing its operation with 12 volts.
