CLK 270 cdi - Engine cut out above 2700 rpm
Hi All,
This problem just emerged today. Really strange, my 2003 CLK, starts and runs totally normally - however when i accelerate above circa 2700 rpm the engine shuts down and i have no power, very scary the first time as it shut down as i was about to overtake!!! Once i pull over and start the engine it once again runs fine until i accelerate above 2700rpm. My gut is that this is some kind of protection mode to prevent further dmage to a faulty component??? or a dodgey sensor?? anyone else got any ideas. The car is automatic and has just over 56,000 miles on the clock. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

hi there
i am having the same issue with the 2001 270 cdi. My lack of power occurs anytime when i reach 60-80mph. I have spent lot of time trying to diagnose problem but couldnt see anything obvious. I have replaced the air mass meter and it did improve the power on the first initial test drive from rest, but unfortenatelly power still dies out round 60mph. I have posted my new thred but no one replyed back yet?
what do we do?
if you come with some sort of solution can you please let me know, you can either send me the private message or email on s_b_simbad@yahoo.com.
thanks

Think i have got it sorted. Brought car to merc and for £100 they ran the diagnostics, reported that they cleared two diagnostic errors reports, but that no particular fault with the cut out above 27000 revs was found. However car has been running perfectly ever since. My advice take it to merc have them plug it in and see what they come up with.
Good luck, let m know how you get on

hello there,
thanks for comming back to me. Vehicle has gone to mercedes dealer but unfortenatelly they dont know what could be wrong with it. They have checked fault errors but there was nothing recorded. They not sure where to start and said it could be an expensive repair as it will come down to guess work to eliminate problem????
i am a car mechanic myself and i thort ive missed something obvious, so for that reason i took it to merc garage to see what they say.......and answer is above, cant find anything wrong with it.
thanks
