I bought a 2004 CLK 240 last year and found that there was a ticking noise coming from the dashbaord when first starting up, which lasted about 10 seconds. The local Mercedes dealer said the dash would have to come out to rectify the problem and would cost around £1000.00!!! By perservering I found that if you switch the pollen button to the 'on position' the noise goes away.
