Default car won't turn off

I have a 1984 300 TDT . Yesterday I replaced both fuel filters. The car started right up and ran great but IT WILL NOT TURN OFF. Can anyone please tell me why my car won't turn off with the key???!!!!!

I know esactly what you did: while working in the engine compartment, you musthave nudged or budged a vacuume hose, ruioning the vacuume. fortunately all you need to do to repair it is secure it again. Were you anywhere near the oil filter? all those lines around it with colored ends are vac. hoses and are very fragile to be bumbed of their nipples. all you have to do is secure it back onto the nipple. in the mean time there is a manual hand switch that says "OFF" lever in the engine that you have to push down to manualy shut the engine off. This happened to be when i got hit im my 87 190 td.

its all here are www.dieselgiant.com in the mercedes diesel maintenande section.

btw this trick with the manual shut off emergency switch IS in the owners manual under "tips and tricks" or "practical hints"

I am guessing its a diesel..........if so, the fuel cutoff selonoid is stuck thus not cutting off fuel supply.
