car won't move
'78 6.9 - i started the car, put it in reverse to back out of a space. car moved back about 3 feet. at that point it quit moving. it won't engage in any gear. it's all neutral. no sounds. linkage fine. fluid nice color and smell, however i notice the level is very high now. what happened?

RE: car won't move
you already know that you got transmission problem.
did you replace that torque converter?
did it fit well and didn't push the pump during installation?
can you hear any sound/noise?
did you check the pressure?
do you have any other additional info?
seeking an answer means you got to supply detailed info first.
B3 means brake band #3 or reverse piston/clutch/lining. they must be damaged.

RE: car won't move
my assumption that the tc was the problem was a guess, based upon the dipstick reading. suddenly the fluid level is way over the full line. it must have come from the tc. i have not done anything yet. i am picking the brains of anyone i can, who are experienced in this area. i want to approach this *#@%! thing from the easiest/cheapest possibility, and go up from there. i once had a toyota that broke the input shaft neat as can be, right behind the bearing. unbelievable the price of that thing.
anyway, here are the events leading up to my tranny becoming all neutral. the day before the tragic event, the car performed the way a healthy 6.9 should. as always, the shifts were nice and firm, with no noise or slippage, at the right rpm's. i live in the country. every day, i drive my road to hwy. 1, turn right, and accelerate to 70 or so. just like always, it performed fine. i came home later, and parked the car. next morning, i started it, backed up about 3 feet, and that was it. no noise, just nothing. i appreciate your taking the time to help a nimrod like me. g
