Broken bonnet release cable (I think) 450SE
Hi, I'm new here but I hope someone can suggest a solution to my problem.
I have a '74 450SE sedan which seems to have a broken bonnet (hood) release cable.
It happened once before that it wouldn't open and yes, I should have fixed it then but it just
popped up driving along. Try as I might, I can't get it to move now.
Is there any way I can get to the bonnet release catch to open it from there ?
Thanks in advance !

I have just had the same problem on my S320. Sleepwalker advised that you can access the catch or cable from beneath the car with a wire. Much like fishing.
That's what my mechanic did but I didn't see him do it.

Thanks for that - looks like I'll be going fishing then !
I had thought about getting at it from below but thought things like the radiator etc may be in the way of the catch. That could still be the case but I guess getting at the cable is the trick !
I did even think of taking the footwell cover off to see if it was broken at that end, and then pulling on the inner once I gripped it with pliers etc.
One of the things that's caused it is that someone has fitted a transmission cooler radiator over the front of the exisiting radiator and the hood / bonnet fouls on that. That'll be something I'll be getting rid of soon too !!
Thanks again for your suggeston !
