Blower pulsating is it regualtor E320 -1999
Heater blower motor is not running or pulsates. Took out blower and hooked to 12 volts and runs full speed. Is it the regualtor or ac/Heat climate control unit. Can the regulator be checked?
You can check the output voltage of the regulator to the blower, will range like 5-12v. You may need to replace both though. The earlier models required updated blower regulator and motor with updated heater box cover.
I guess my question is how do I know weather its the regulator or the climate control, as the blower motor runs at full when connected to 12volts. I have ordered the regulator.
regulator is most likely the culprit. I have found, that if you need to replace the regulator, soon you will need to replace the blower motor (brushes go out, etc). I repaced regulator than two months later blower motor locked up, brushes were worn to nothing left. so had to buy a complete assembly, new blower motor and regulator all in one (ebay, got lucky).
To answer your question about testing to see if it the regulator or the control unit, un plug the connector at the blower housing. It should have two larger wires, one brown and one red, and one or two multi colored little wires.
The two larger wires is your power and ground, you will have battery voltage (with ignition on)
The 1 or 2 little wires,One of them is your signal wire, if you test power at this wire it will change as you change the fan speed on the control module, anywhere from 1.8 to 7.5 volts. The other one should be battery voltage.
If these wires test ok, then it can only be the blower regulator.

MB was correct, it was the blower regulator and I did check the voltage at the connection plug as bear recommended and he was correct. So thanks for the help MB Tech and bear. Hope this helps other people.
