Thanks "partshelp".
That website is great.
Things have got a little more complex now.
The original motor/blower is still in there & working. I also have a new regulartor hanging under the dash.
The regulator is unplugged and when I plug it in it works, BUT....
It gets rather hot. I've not left it plugged in for long.
Do I have the wrong regulator?
How do I stop the heat problem?
I've attached a pic of how I found the merc...
Thanks for all your help.

I'm in need a little help here.
1: The regulator I have doesnt fit onto the blower motor (wrong shaped porcupine heat sink).
2: When attached it gets very hot.
What do I do?
1: Replace the blower motor with one that will fit it?
2: Replace the regulator? If so how do I find out the part number/where to order it?
Sounds like it's the wrong one for your car.
Call your local Benz dealer. Give them the VIN number and they should be able to give you the right part number.
Once you have the part number, you can shop around.
Sometimes it's more of a pain to shop around and "hope" you get the right parts vs just going to the dealer and getting the right part the first time.
Personally, I'd just get the regulator from the dealer and be done with it.
I would also change the cabin air filter as well, because if it's plugged up, it's going to cause extra current draw and probably take out the regulator again. That could have been what happend to the original one.
Hope this helps

The part number on the new regulator I have says 210 821 16 51 (see image above)
BUT this does not fit on to the motor unit that I have.
Also: how do I access the cabin air filter ? (is this the two carbon filters that drop out next to the motor unit?)
