Auto 190E Smoth shifting/high revs?

Auto 190E Smoth shifting/high revs?
New to the post and was wondering why my 1984 190E shifts smooth when driving normal,but if you get right on it it revs high and takes forever to shift. Is the trans junk? It just doesn't seem right. Also,I have not done a trans service to it and I just picked up the car. The Fluid looks good and not burnt smelling. So I assumed ok. Any help would be great thanks.
