Default 94 300SL No Flashers, No Gauges

I have a 1994 300SL with 143K on the odometer. I have just had a new ragtop installed at mucho cost.
Now the flashers don't work and all the gauges are dead.
They worked before I had the top installed.
Should I go back to the installer or is this an age/mileage problem ?
I hear tales of bad batteries on circuit boards, plain bad circuit boards and bad flasher units.
I would like to get this problem fixed but I'm wary of MB dealers/repairers as I've been burnt many times.
Any ideas and/or suggestions would be much appreciated.

The place where the roof was fitted would be my first port of call and if they deny causing the problem I would carry out some basic checks e.g. I would start off by replacing the fuses if they are the pot type, with age they often give poor contact in the fuseholders and for the small cost involved its worth doing. Then I would check all the relays and connector blocks I could reach.

I have had mystery electrical failures before that started when I have disconnected the battery and then have gone when I have replaced fuses especially on wiper and window controls.
