Default 380 SE (1984) Auto Transmission "Slipping"

Hello to all, I am the happy proud owner of a Mercedes 380SE 1984 Model. About 3 months ago I started to get "weird" Automatic Transmission problems. I would be driving along at speeds between 40km & 100km/hr when suddenly the gear box would change back from 4th to 3rd - the evidence being a very audible & "jolting" feeling to confirm it; whilst driving, that it had actually dropped back a gear. I have of course checked the Auto fluid level & infact had the Automatic Tranmission filter replaced & new Transmission fluid (at the correct level) added to see if it was that; but alas it was not. It is still doing it. Some times for days on end it performs wonderfully, then suddenly starts to "slip" & the gears "jump" back to a lower level again - with the revs increasing at any accelerator application. I have noticed that maybe it happens after at least 2o mins of driving; giving the gear box enough time to heat up. Is it a "heat" problem; I don;t know? Could someone pls help or advise. T.y. Gary
